Ilfracombe could be the UK Town of Culture 2028! 🏆
As you may already know, we have officially entered the competition to become the UK Town of Culture 2028!
In celebration of our town’s culture and heritage, we were asked to submit a digital postcard (using only 100 words!) to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)…

What a place!
We’ve just celebrated the 10th Ilfracombe Art Trail and the Beer & Music Festival was a huge success – all volunteer led!
The picture on the front is of the medieval harbour. You can see Damien Hirst’s Verity on the water’s edge – people come from all over the world to see her!
The photo was taken from Hillsborough where the Red Petticoats danced to ward off the French invasion in 1797.
There is so much interesting history here! There’s tonnes more to discover in this incredible place.
